Monks celebrate temple reopening

The monks sing sutras before Buddhist statues, including the thousand-armed statue of the Kannon Bodhisattva, in the Kannondo Hall of Ninnaji Temple in Kyoto on Wednesday.

The hall has undergone a six-year restoration, the first in 370 years, and was especially open to the public the same day. The site, named as World Heritage by UNESCO, in Ukyo Ward, is connected to the imperial family.
