Missing Girl Searches End in Yamanashi

Yamanashi prefectural police ended an intensive search for a 7 girl from Narita, Chiba prefecture on Sunday, the 16 day of her disappearance.

Misaki Ogura disappeared during a visit with his family to a campground in Doshi Village, Yamanashi Prefecture, on September 21.

"We did everything we could in the search," said local police chief Hisashi Inoue. "Sorry we couldn't find her."

A total of about 1.700 Self-Defense Force police, firefighters and troops were mobilized for the search, which covered areas at 15 kilometers east and west of the camp and 7 to 8 kilometers north and south.

"Although not a shoe of hers has been discovered, we can't give her up," the girl's mother, Tomoko, 36, told reporters on Sunday night.

So far, Yamanashi police have received about 2.000 reports of related information, but have no promising clues.
