Rena has new opponent for her weekend fight

In the week of the RIZIN 19 fight in Osaka, Rena Kubota had a new opponent announced.

Rena's original opponent Shawna Ram suffered a bruise during training and had to withdraw from the event, according to RIZIN president Nobuyuki Sakakibara.

Ram will be replaced by Alexandra Alvare, who maintains a record of 0-3 in MMA, all of which was by knockout.

Rena Kubota began her career as a professional wrestler at Shoot Boxing, an event that is also known in Japan as “Standing Vale Tudo” (ie Vale Tudo Standing), whose rules do not allow fighting on the ground, but above all punches are valid. , kicks, knees, elbows, falls and finishes (Chokeholds, Armlocks and Wristilocks).
Victorious in the sport, she collected the titles of the “S-Cup Shoot Boxing Girls” tournaments in the years of 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Rena's debut in MMA took place at the inaugural event of the RIZIN Fighting Federation on 2015 New Year's Eve and she won with a second-round submission in the second round of the fight with Jlena Valentino.

Kubota came from six straight wins until he met his first loss to Kanna Asakura at the 2017 RIZIN World Grand Prix.
She also lost her second fight with Asakura on RIZIN 11 and was recently defeated by Lindsey VanZandt in a Bellator 222 match.
Rena currently maintains a record 8-3 in MMA.

Still on the RIZIN 19 'card', we will have the return of light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka (24-3-1) against Brazilian Fabio Maldonado, in a fight that will have no title dispute. The weight limit stipulated for this fight was 100 kg.

Another confirmed attendance was Kai Asakura (13- 1), who returns after beating Kyoji Horiguchi at RIZIN 18, and this time will face former UFC athlete Ulka Sasaki (22-7).

The event will also feature the duel between Ham Seo-Hee Ham (21-8) and Miyuu Yamamoto (5-3), as well as the opening fights of the RIZIN 'Lightweight Grand Prix'.

RIZIN 19 will take place at the Edion Arena in Osaka on 12 October.
