Check out the results of “Road FC 058” held Saturday in South Korea
The South Korean event, 'Road FC', returned after 18 months last Saturday night, July 03, 2021, at the Changwon Gymnasium in Changwon, the ninth most populous city in South Korea.
As we previously announced, the highlight of the lineup was actually the 'co-main event' (and therefore the 'co-main event') of the 'card', in which Kim Jae-Hoon, 31, faced Geum Gwang-San, in a fight in the best 'Freak Show' style.
A curiosity about this 'bizarre' confrontation is that Kim Jae-Hoon was classified as an "ex-member" of the Yakuza (Japanese mafia) by the international specialized media, while his opponent, Geum Gwang-San, is an actor who decided to become a fighter and make his MMA debut at the age of 45.
The former entered the fight with a weight advantage of 45 kg, having used every gram to achieve victory and as a “former mobster” was forced to use a 'rash guard' to cover his Yakuza tattoos. It is worth remembering that in some countries in Asia it is forbidden to wear tattoos and the event was also broadcast to those places.
In the fight itself, both fighters attacked the legs from the start. Once that process was over, it was Kim who pushed forward and landed some punches. After a battle in the clinch, Geum was thrown over the grid (from the 'cage') and, already on the ground, was hit by a myriad of punches from the 'ground and pound'. As Geum didn't show any reaction, the referee stopped the fight to preserve the athlete's physical integrity. The “ex-member” of the Yakuza was declared the winner after knocking out his opponent at 2 minutes and 06 seconds of the first round.
Kim (1-4) fell to the ground in tears as he took his first professional victory on his fifth attempt, while Geum (0-1) lost on his MMA debut.
In the 'main event' (and therefore 'main event') of this “Road FC 058” we saw In Su Hwang become the new middleweight champion after knocking out Il Hak Oh at 34 seconds of the second round. With the title belt Hwang (6-1) got the sixth knockout of his career in his hometown. Oh (4-1), on the other hand, lost for the first time.
Another fight on the card that deserves to be highlighted was the one that marked the return of Hae Jin Park, eliminated almost two years ago in “Road FC 055” while fighting for the featherweight title. This time, the Jiu-Jitsu specialist took his opponent, Doo Seok Oh, to the ground and submitted him with a “leglock” with just 59 seconds into the fight. Park returned to winning ways and moved up to 8-1, while his opponent dropped to 3-6.
In the opening match of the main event, highly touted lightweight prospect Si Won Park (6-0) defeated Tae Sung Kim (4-1) via KO with just 1 minute and 16 seconds of the first round.
