Rina Okamoto beats Hitomi Nagai at “KNOCK OUT 2021 vol.3” held on Sunday in Japan
On Sunday, July 18, 2021, the 'KNOCK OUT' promotion held “KNOCK OUT 2021 vol.3” at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. The event was broadcast 'live' via the 'Pay system' -Per-View'.
The card featured the completion of tournaments under the 'KNOCK OUT-BLACK' rules, which allow elbow-free punches and kicks, in the promotion's super-medium and super-lightweight categories, with Shintaro Matsukura and Hijiri Tamura fighting for the 75kg belt , while Chihiro Suzuki and Keijiro Miyakoshi faced each other on the 65kg belt.
The belt was also at stake in the 'KNOCK OUT-RED' set of rules that allow elbow kicks and punches when Suarek Rukkukamui and Yota Shigemori collided for the lightweight title.
Among women, the highlight was the fight between 'Panchan' Rina Okamoto (STRUGGLE), female champion in the atom weight category (46kg) and Hitomi “Sasori” Nagai (Tetsu Gym / PRIMA GOLD), champion 'minerva' in the category light fly weight (48,99kg).
They faced each other in a unique way in a 'super fight' under the rules 'KNOCK OUT-BLACK', that is, without using elbows.
This was a contract fight, with a stipulated time of 3R of 3 minutes (plus an extension round, if necessary) and a combined weight of 48,4kg. This weight is 2,4kg above the original atom weight category (-46,0kg) and is closer to the “Sasori” light flyweight (-48,97kg).
'Panchan' Rina Okamoto was coming off a knockout win in the rematch with MIREY also held at Korakuen Hall on May 22 this year. Rina is undefeated with 10 wins (2 'KO') since her professional debut in February 2019 and “Sasori” is her strongest opponent so far.
Hitomi “Sasori” Nagai conquered the throne of 'minerva' in September 2019. In February 2020, she participated in “Shoot Boxing”. The athlete also competed in events such as the 'Hoost Cup', 'NKB' and 'RISE', before debuting in 'KNOCK OUT'.
At the start of the fight, “Sasori” puts pressure on, but Rina strikes while dodging in steps. After the good rhythm of the 'exchange' of punches and kicks, the first 'clinch' of the fight takes place. Rina connects punches repeatedly and leaves a good impression before the end of the first period.
In the second 'round', Rina connects a series of punches. “Sasori” - with a smile plastered on his face - immediately retaliates and delivers a right left straight to Okamoto's face. From there, follow scenes of 'swapping' and this time, it's “Sasori” who leaves a good impression.
In the third and final round, both fighters fire kicks. But Rina also uses knees. She hits her opponent twice in a row. “Sasori” steps back to hit Rina's body next. In the sequence, Okamoto hits the front right kick and kicks to the knee. The fight ends violently.
The result of the fight goes to the judges' decision and the score is favorable to Rina, who wins by majority decision ( 29-29, 29-28, 29-28 ).
-“I was scared, but everyone supported me and I did my best. I was still weak, but I will practice more. I'm glad I won, even at the last minute. The enemy is gone, but please keep an eye on me in the future. Thank you for your support."-said Rina Okamoto, still emotional, after having won the fierce battle.
