Tatsumitsu Wada gets bonus on “Road to ONE 5th: Sexyama Edition” held in Japan; Check the results

“Road to ONE 5th: Sexyama Edition” was held at Tsutaya O-East in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, on October 5, 2021 (Tuesday). The event was a tribute to UFC veteran Yoshihiro Akiyama, who chaired the comment booth. There was also a 300.000 yen ($2.700 USD) 'Sexyama Bonus' on offer for anyone who would fight the funniest fight on the card.

In the 'main event' (and therefore the 'main event') of the 'schedule' we saw an MMA fight between Tatsumitsu Wada, (a former 'DEEP Impact' champion) and Daichi Takenaka, (former 'Shooto' bantamweight champion ” ).

The fight started in the “swapping” area, with Wada hitting a kick in the leg of Takenaka, who retaliated with a nice left “cross” followed by a kick that hit the inside of his opponent's leg. The athletes who are currently part of the 'Squad' of the 'ONE Championship' continued to invest in the 'swapping', with Takenaka delivering a kick to Wada's body in response to the 'strike' (a left 'hook' and an 'uppercut' ) that had been “connected” from the “clinch”. This first round also featured some moments of “hand to hand” fights.

The fighters continued to invest in punches and kicks at the start of the second round, but they also developed the ground game, with Wada taking his opponent's back. He ended up on the bottom and even landed an elbow while trying to fit a triangle. Takenaka also did a good job of punishing his opponent with a solid ground and pound at the end of the round.

The third and final round started with Wada trying to take down his opponent with a single leg drop (also known as a single leg), but Takenaka defended well. In the sequence, Wada pressed his opponent against the cage's grid and then took him to the ground. After hitting the body in the clinch, he was able to catch Takenaka's back once more, but Takenaka managed to defend himself well and avoided the choke attempt. Afterwards, Takenaka managed to get out of position and land blows from Wada's guard until the end of the fight, but Wada also remained active from below, doing enough to guarantee the victory, albeit by split decision (2-1).

With the result, Wada secured a check for 300.000 yen (US$2.700) in addition to his wrestling bag, which was handed over by Yoshihiro Akiyama himself. After earning the “Sexyama” bonus, Wada improved his MMA record to 23-11-2 while Takenaka dropped to 13-3-1.

The 'co-main event' (or 'co-main event') on the card was a match between Shinya Aoki and Shutaro Debana played under the rules of 'grappling'. The confrontation ended in a tie, since none of the athletes managed to submit until the end of regulation time.

Victoria Lee wins at ONE Championship: “Revolution” and remains undefeated in MMA

This Friday, September 24, 2021, the ONE Championship held the ONE Championship: “Revolution”, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, in Singapore. The event, which featured three fights valid for title bouts, was aired 'live' and entirely on 'YouTube'.

The card's 'main event' (and therefore 'main event') was marked by the surprising victory of South Korean Ok Rae Yoon after five rounds. With the triumph - by unanimous decision of the judges - over then-champion Christian Lee, he won the MMA lightweight title of the franchise. Ok Rae Yoon improved his MMA “record” to 16-3 while Lee dropped to 15-4.

Already in the 'co-main event' (or “co-main event”) of the schedule we saw the Thai bantamweight champion Kickboxing Champion Petchyindee succeed in his first title defense by beating Mehdi Zatout, from France, too unanimously.

Another who kept his title belt was Joshua Pacio, from the Philippines, who beat Japan's Yosuke Saruta by TKO in the first round.
This was the third confrontation between the two fighters in the straw weight division and the second time Pacio won by stoppage. He improved to 19-3 while his opponent dropped to 21-10-3.

Brazil was represented in a women's MMA fight that opened the event's main card by Victória Souza (5-1), from Santa Catarina, in the atom weight category. Her opponent was Singaporean Victoria Lee (3-0), 17-year-old athlete and sister of “stars” Angela Lee (ONE atom weight champion) and Christian Lee (former event lightweight champion), who imposed a better game of Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. After suffering several takedowns and being dominated on the ground with a solid "ground and pound", the Brazilian ended up being defeated by TKO at 3m58s of the second 'round'.

But the ONE Championship: “Revolution” had another Brazilian in action, Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida, in a fight played on the 'undercard' (or “preliminary card”). The opponent of the 13-time Jiu-Jitsu world champion and two-time ADCC champion was also Brazilian Anderson “Braddock” Silva, who comes from a past in Kickboxing and boasts a 'record' of 3-2 in MMA. “Buchecha” completely dominated the fight from the start and submitted his rival with a choke 'Norte-Sul' at 2:55 of the first round of the fight that marked his debut in MMA.

“Road to ONE 5th: Sexyama Edition” will be produced by Yoshihiro Akiyama in Japan

The ONE Championship announced that “Road to ONE 5th: Sexyama Edition” will be held at Shibuya O-East in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan on October 5, 2021 (a Tuesday in Japan).

With the cooperation of Chatri Sityodtong (CEO of ONE Championship), Kazuhiro Sakamoto (Shooto & VTJ 'Promoter'), Shigeyoshi Akiyama (Sustain), Yuji Kitano (ABEMATV) and Ryo Chonan (Trybe Tokyo MMA), it looks like they will be able to. to perform “Road to ONE 5th: Sexyama Edition” this time.

The tournament will be broadcast exclusively 'live' on ABEMATV, as announced by Mr. Yuji Kitano.

Yoshihiro Akiyama himself, fighter known by the nickname “Sexyama”, struggled a lot to get sponsors for this MMA competition.

-“Due to the prolonged health crisis, I learned that beginning fighters have fewer opportunities to fight than I do at 46 years old. However, I have not been able to attract enough sponsors to run the tournament previously. But now, while I was recovering from an injury, I called my friends to raise funds and we decided to do 'Road to ONE 5th: Sexyama Edition' this time.”-announced Akiyama, through his social networks.

Hideyuki Hata, ONE Championship Japan branch representative, is also supporting the holding of the event.

-“I am delighted to be able to hold the fifth 'Road to ONE' this time, after the tournament in February this year. We will be able to provide more fighting opportunities for athletes. We will take preventive measures against infection by the new coronavirus. I am so honored to be here and deeply grateful to everyone involved. I hope that all participating fighters will be able to offer a brilliant tournament for everyone. Look forward to it," he said in a press release.

The event's 'card' will be “announced at a later date”, but there is another question that remains: will Akiyama himself participate only as a producer of the tournament or will he also fight? Will there be enough time for him to recover from his injury?

With a 'record' in MMA consisting of 15 wins, 7 losses and 2 'No Contest', Yoshihiro Akiyama is currently part of the ONE Championship's squad. His most recent fight was a “KO” victory over Sheriff Mohammed in the ONE main event in February 2020. In the future, he would like to promote an ONE tournament: “Japan vs. Korea".

Stay tuned for additional information about this tournament produced by Yoshihiro Akiyama.

Lipeng Zhang defeats Eduard Folayang and challenges Shinya Aoki at the ONE Championship

The ONE Championship: “Battleground Part II” took place on Friday (August 13, 2021) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The 'card' totally dedicated to MMA fights was broadcast by several platforms all over the world, among them, ABEMATV.

In the 'main event' of the schedule, we had a 'crucial' fight in the lightweight division between Eduard Folayang, (22-11), the celebrated hero of the Philippines, who is coming off the longest losing streak in his career, against Lipeng Zhang, (30-11-2), 'ex-athlete' of the UFC and winner of the only season of “The Ultimate Fighter: China” (in 2014). Folayang - who hails from Kung Fu - wanted to prove that he still has a lot to do, despite having helped build Filipino MMA from the start. Zhang, who has a 2-2 UFC record, is also a great fighter and didn't hesitate to attack until he achieved his goals.

Folayang tried to "get the right step" and started the fight by delivering powerful kicks to the leg of the strong Chinese who, after accepting the 'exchange', knocked his opponent down and began to work with 'ground and pound' punches until he "opened the way" to the back of Folayang. The veteran used his experience and resisted the submission, despite absorbing some powerful “blows”.

Both men landed hits right at the start of the second round. Folayang, ('former ONE lightweight champion'), showed his aggression and continued to attack with his devastating kicks, as well as defending Zhang's takedown attempts.

The "script" would be repeated at the beginning of the third round until Zhang "connected" an "uppercut" from the right. From there, Zhang showed that he's been in his best form since leaving the UFC, maintaining lateral control and taking the fight until the end of regular time. The Chinese's tactic was enough to guarantee him the unanimous decision victory and raise his 'record' to 31-11-2. Folayang, meanwhile, was down to 22-12.
After the result, Lipeng Zhang challenged Japanese 'star' Shinya Aoki to fight on an upcoming ONE Championship card.

In the 'co-main event' (or “co-main event”) we saw a duel between Brazilian Alex Silva and Chinese Li Tao Miao. Silva - a 'former ONE' straw weight world champion (in 2017) - showed a sharp Jiu-Jitsu, almost got the submission, but ended up winning by unanimous decision of the judges after three rounds. Your 'record' goes up to 10-6. Miao drops to 6-4.

Another fight worthy of note on the card occurred between the Norwegian heavyweight Thomas Narmo (4-0-0 ) and the Cameroonian Alain Ngalani (4-6-0 ). The battle ended in “no contest” after an “accidental” kick to the groin at 4:07 of the second round.
The undefeated Norwegian was scheduled to face Brazilian Marcus “Buchecha” at the Jiu-Jitsu 'legend' debut at the ONE Championship, scheduled for September 24 in Singapore.

The fighter Eko Roni Saputra (5-1), in turn, applied a massive knockout in just 10 seconds over Peng Shuai Liu (6-7).

Young "star" Victoria Lee submits opponent at ONE: 'Battleground'

After several weeks of 'hiatus', the ONE Championship got back into action last Friday (Jul 30, 2021) with their ONE: 'Battleground' concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The event was broadcast 'live' to the US via the 'Pay-Per-View' system.

The 'card' began with a fight by young Victoria Lee, just 17 years old. It was the second fight and the second win by submission of the fighter nicknamed “The Prodigy”. His MMA debut took place during ONE: 'Fists of Fury', in February this year.
This time, the younger sister of the current ONE champions - Christian Lee and Angela Lee - submitted the Chinese Luping Wang - WLF veteran - with an armbar in the first round.

Also among the women, Ritu Phogat, from India, secured the biggest victory of her career by beating the Chinese Lin Heqin. The 27-year-old was trying to recover from a split decision loss to Bi Nguyen at ONE: 'Dangal', while the Chinese was coming off a streak of 11 straight wins.
Phogat's triumph came thanks to his mastery of the ground. After reading the judges' “papers” - which gave her the unanimous victory - the athlete from India raised her record to 5-1, while Lin went to 14-3-1, in what was her first defeat since 2016.

The only Brazilian at the event, Leandro Ataídes didn't do well against former champion Aung La N Sang. The light heavyweight fighter was coming off three straight victories before losing his last showdown against Reinier de Ridder. In turn, N Sang had lost both his titles, also to De Rider. The two athletes wanted revenge, but only one of them would have the right to a rematch.
And this will be awarded to the athlete from Myanmar, who used a brutal combination of punches to take the Brazilian to the knockout in the first round.

In the main event (held under Muay Thai rules) of the schedule, Thai Prajanchai PK Saenchai and Sam-A Gaiyanghadao competed for the organization's flyweight champion belt. The title went to Prajanchai after a fair majority decision victory.

Chang Min Yoon defeats Jia Wen Ma by submission at ONE: “Full Blast - Part II”

The ONE Championship: “Full Blast - Part II” took place on Friday (June 11) night at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The event was broadcast in the US with a delay on “B/R Live” (Eastern time).
The four-fight card featured two mixed martial arts matches, a Muay Thai match and a Kickboxing match.

In the 'main event' (or “main event”) of the schedule, Mongkolpetch Petchyindee (Thailand) faced Elias Mahmoudi (France) in a Muay Thai contest.
Mongkolpetch entered the fight with three wins from his three appearances inside ONE's cage. He hadn't fought for nearly a year, when he beat Sok Thy at ONE: “No Surrender 3”.
His opponent last night, Mahmoudi, is fourth in the Muay Thai flyweight ranking. He has already fought in Japan at the K-1 World GP (in 2016 and 2017). His last fight was at ONE: “Mark Of Greatness”, at the end of 2019, when he won Lerdsila Chumpairtour.

After three rounds of a lot of 'swapping', Mongkolpetch (who kept the full flow in the last period), ended up winning by majority decision.

The 'co-main event' (or “co-main event”) brought Tsogaokhuu Amarsanaa, a fighter from Mongolia who trains at Jackson Wink MMA, in the United States. The Mongolian welcomed undefeated Ben Wilhelm, (4-0), a Gracie Technics athlete who had submitted all his opponents in his career so far.

Amarsanaa also won his fight by judges decision after three rounds, in what was Wilhelm's first tough showing. The Hawaiian experienced defeat for the first time and dropped to 4-1. Amarsanaa has shown that he can cause problems for anyone in the lightweight division and has also improved technically during his hiatus. Your record is now 6-2.

In another MMA duel of the night, we saw Jia Wen Ma (China) face Chang Min Yoon (South Korea) in a featherweight match.
The South Korean was coming off four consecutive victories and kept this 'record' with a quick submission in the first round. Yoon used an emphatic hip toss at the start of the fight to get Ma to her back. He soon tucked his left arm under his opponent's chin. It was not clear if the Chinese fighter really “hit” as a sign of resignation, but with the choke hold tighter and tighter, the referee decided to end the fight.
Ma's 'record' drops to 6-4, while Yoon climbs to 5-1.

In the Kickboxing challenge, Taiki Naito, former Japanese champion of “Shoot Boxing” at super bantamweight (55 kg) and who already accumulates participations in ONE, faced Sanshou's fighter, Wenfeng Wang, whose 'record' is 41 wins. , 8 losses and 1 draw.
The athlete from Japan ended up beating the Chinese by majority decision after three rounds.

The next ONE Championship event is scheduled for July 9th. However, with the Singapore government set to ease its latest coronavirus-related restrictions at any time, we could see ONE's concert: “Empower” rescheduled for before that.

Check out the results of ONE: “Full Blast” held today in Singapore

This Friday, May 28, 2021, the ONE Championship, the largest martial arts organization in the world, promoted the ONE Championship: “Full Blast”, held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, in Singapore.

The five-fight card featured three MMA fights. Highlight for the 'co-main event' (or “co-main event”) between the Indian Kantharaj Agasa and the main flyweight in China, Xie Wei.

The Indian entered the competition with a more impressive record than his Chinese opponent and the two men alternated good times in the opening two rounds, which featured a lot of 'swapping' and some takedown attempts.

However, Agasa, already with blood oozing from a wound, chose not to return for the third and final round.

With the win, Wei improved his "record" to 7-3 and his fights for the ONE Championship have been extremely impressive so far, with two medical stoppage wins and a debatable (decision) loss to flyweight Danny Kingad. The same can't be said for Agasa, cited on the franchise's website as “India's best MMA fighter”, who dropped to 11-3 after an unimpressive debut.

The 'main event' (or “main event”) of the schedule brought us a long-awaited battle between two of the main Muay Thai competitors in the bantamweight division. Saemapatch Fairtex, simply the 1st place in the division rankings, ended up stopping the 3rd place fighter, Kulabdam Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai, with a left hand blow to the body of the “Left Meteorite”, still in the initial round.

Previously, we had another MMA fight, in which featherweight Edward Kelly (13-8) won a split decision victory over Ahmed Faress (16-4). The Egyptian came close to completing an attempt at submission with a triangle in the second round, but lost strength in the final period and saw the interruption of his winning streak, after reading the judges' charts.

Earlier in the evening, Anthony Do (8-4) submitted Liang Hui (5-7-1) with a triangle choke in a keyweight contest.

Japanese Ayaka Miura beats Brazilian Rayane Bastos by submission at ONE: “Dangal”

On Saturday, May 15, 2021, the ONE Championship promoted the ONE: “Dangal” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore. The 'card' consisted of four mixed martial arts matches and one Muay Thai match.

In the 'main event' of the lineup we saw Arjan Bhullar (11-1) make history by becoming the first fighter of Indian origin to win the ONE Championship heavyweight title and the second man to hold the category title in franchise owned by Chatri Sityodtong.

To accomplish this feat he had to 'detonate' then-champion Brandon Vera (16-9) by TKO in the second round. After Vera began the second period by "shooting" long jabs from a distance, Bhullar - a former Olympic Wrestling athlete - attempted takedowns on his opponent. After Vera grabbed the cage rail, Bhullar finally took his opponent to the ground, where he defined the fight by imposing a heavy ground and pound on Vera.

The 'co-main event' (or “co-main event”) featured a duel in the featherweight division under Muay Thai rules, where 22-year-old Thai star Tawanchai PK Saenchai landed a spectacular kick in the head of Irish Sean Clancy to win by KO in the third round of the clash.

In another MMA match on the card, Gary Mangat improved his “record” to 16-3 with a unanimous decision win over India's Roshan Mainam (6-3).

Another fighter from India, Ritu Phogat (4-1), also suffered a similar setback. She lost to American Bi Nguyen (6-6), but by split decision of the judges, after three rounds.

The most awaited moment of ONE: “Dangal” - at least for us Brazilians - was another fight between women and which had the presence of Rayane Bastos from Pará. The athlete from Team JB, was undefeated until then with four wins and one draw.

However, the Japanese Ayaka Miura used the technique in which she is a specialist, the “American scarf-hold”, to submit the Brazilian with just 2m58 of the fight carried out in a “combined” weight (in other words, 'married') of 58kg. This was Miura's sixth win out of 11 in her career with this same technique, in which she starts from lateral control and applies an American with her legs ('keylock').

See the results and highlights of Road To ONE 7rd: “4th Young Guns” held in Tokyo, Japan

The MMA show dubbed Road To ONE 7rd: “4th Young Guns” was held on Monday afternoon (February 22nd) in Tokyo, Japan.

This was the fourth 'card' of the Japanese subsidiary of the ONE Championship (promoted by Shooto), but it is the seventh in the series of those who have already been promoted by "Road to ONE" in countries on the Asian continent and in some other countries in Eastern Europe.

Therefore, the concert took place at Tsutaya O-East in front of an audience that, although "limited", attended the event 'live'.

The fights were also broadcast on Abema TV.

The 'main event' (and therefore the 'main event') of the schedule was a fight between Judo black belt Itsuki Hirata and Miku Nakamura, a regular fighter in the Shooto promotion.

The fight was defined in the second round, when Hirata made use of a hip throw and threw Nakamura to the ground, from where he transitioned to a choke. However, instead of insisting on the submission attempt to try to make her opponent fold, she opted to work with “ground and pound” punches that forced the referee to stop the confrontation at 2:34.

With the win, Hirata improved his MMA record to 4-0, while Nakamura dropped to 3-4.

The 'co-main event' (or 'co-main event') of this 'card' was a duel in the welterweight division in which Kazuki Kasai defeated Takuya Nagata in the third and final round.

With Nagata in the “four support” position, Kasai began to punish him with punches to the head, causing the 'corner' to throw in the towel. With the win, he improves to 6-1, while his opponent drops to 9-4-1.

In another match, Toru Ogawa (12-8) defeated Pancrase Pancrase teammate Kenji Yamanaka (11-9) by decision, ending his opponent's unbeaten record in a fun match.
