In the town of Nabari (Mie), 113 kilometers from Nagoya (Aichi), lies a small village, known as Akame Shijuuhachi-taki, for housing the 48 waterfalls of Akame. Much sought after by photographers in search of perfecting the technique of clicking waterfalls, hundreds of years ago the locality was training point of ninjas of a nearby gymnasium, in the city of Iga. "It is an honor that they have chosen my village among so many interesting places to visit ", rejoices Kazuhiku Terada, owner of the property where the historic tourist spot is situated. With impeccable English, the Japanese have fun showing old photos and telling curiosities to customers of his souvenir shop.
In addition to ecotourism, the site conserves Buddhist temples where students of the art of espionage (ninjutsu) meditate for 600 years ago. At that time, Japan's fiefs lived in a constant state of war. Because of this, to this day, one of the most famous local attractions abroad is the school that teaches the martial art of ninjas to foreign children.
Located there are 30 meters above sea level, the highest point of Shijuhachi-taki reaches 60 meters of altitude. From beginning to end, the trail has four kilometers, which take 90 minutes to travel. In all, the round trip lasts at least three hours.
In some sections it is necessary to climb stairs with high steps. It is therefore recommended to wear sneakers and appropriate clothing for a long walk. The best time to visit is the summer, when the green of the forest is more intense.

The present Castle of Ueno was constructed by an excellent architect of the castle, All Takatora, in the early seventeenth century. The stone walls of its inner moat, with a height of approximately 30 meters, are considered to be the tallest built in Japan along with those of Osaka Castle.
The current castle tower was restored by Katsu Kawasaki, a local member of the nobility, in 1935. The interior of this wooden building has well preserved the atmosphere of the original castle, which was built in the Warring States Period (when samurai warriors had frequent wars ).
Inside the three-story castle tower, items related to the Whole Family, including weapons and armor, are on display. Its upper floor commands a magnificent view of the castle town.
